Fire sprinkler systems often go unnoticed – that is, they go unnoticed until they’re needed. And then it’s a matter of life
and property that they function properly. A recent change in the law will help insure that not only are these systems installed
by a licensed, qualified individual – now the service, testing, maintenance and inspection must also be done by someone who is licensed.
Changes made in November of 2016 to Chapter 146, Section 81 of the state law regulating fire sprinkler inspections now require
that field personnel who actually perform the inspections for licensed fire protection contractors must be licensed themselves.
This also applies to individuals servicing, testing and maintaining these systems.
